Future Needs Tools: Apprenticeship Training at weba

The automotive industry is at a turning point. New materials, higher quality requirements, and global competition are transforming the way tools are designed and manufactured. One decisive factor for sustainable success: highly skilled specialists. For weba Werkzeugbau, investing in apprenticeships is more than a commitment – it is a long-term strategy. With the apprenticeship in metal technology – main module toolmaking technology, the company ensures a strong foundation for its own future and for the automotive industry at large.

Apprentices as the foundation for quality and innovation

Well-trained specialists are in short supply. In toolmaking, their expertise is crucial for achieving precision and driving innovation. That is why weba places great importance on professional training. The company offers young people the opportunity to learn modern metal processing from scratch while working with the latest technologies.

Apprentices don’t just gain theoretical knowledge – they are actively involved in real projects, where they can apply their skills right away. This combination of practical training and high responsibility makes the apprenticeship in metal technology – toolmaking technology a real career path with excellent prospects.

Apprenticeship fair in Steyr: Toolmaking technology in focus

The demand for this profession became clear at the first apprenticeship fair organized by the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce in November 2008 in Steyr. Over two days, 46 companies presented 50 trades. But only one company represented the apprenticeship in toolmaking technology: weba.

On the first day alone, 2,000 students and teachers visited the fair. At the weba booth, young visitors showed strong interest in the displayed workpieces and detailed insights into the training program. Many students even signed up directly for trial days, which led to a steady stream of interested young people visiting weba afterward – some more than once.

This positive feedback confirmed the importance of showing young people the opportunities in this highly technical and future-oriented profession.

Motivation and perspectives for young talents

At present, 16 apprentices are completing their apprenticeship in metal technology – main module toolmaking technology at weba in Steyr. The number is steadily increasing, as the company is committed to nurturing motivated and talented young people.

Motivation plays a key role: weba honors outstanding performance with financial bonuses and even international language trips. This creates an environment where apprentices not only learn their trade but also broaden their horizons and develop as individuals.

The company’s philosophy is clear – apprenticeships are not a temporary measure but a cornerstone of long-term success.
